hi Brad, i think your review is good and very informational…. But, there is one thing you could work on: the way you speak. right now you’re talking to us like an announcer on a commercial. everybody, and i mean everybody hates those guys because they are so annoying. don’t be that guy brad, you’re better than that… talk to the camera like you’re talking to one of your friends. don’t be nervous, just lay back, relax, and talk. that said, i give this a 4/5 star review.

Dilemma: Buy this used now with the 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens for 400 dollars, get the XSi for whatever the cheapest price is on boxing day?
personal opinion: if money is not a problem buy, the xsi, if it is, take in consideration the advantages and disadvantages for Eg.
(1000D)XS 10Mp and (450D)XSi 12Mp – is it really a gain? 10MP is more that enough to print photographs in A3 size.
XS 2.5” LCD and XSI 3” – I will use mostly the viewfinder.

hey im thinking about getting the XS as a starter SLR… is this lens able to focus and zoom manually? or is it like a point and shoot where you hold down the shutter button?

You talk about how the camera can zoom up to 10 times. Talking bout the wrong this mate, that’s the kit lens.

Why is it not good with sport photos? If you get a better lens will it be better for sports?
@iJaredMS I find it quite useful with sports photos. It’s not top of the line, but it’s good enough.

everything you need to get started… exept a memory card, which you need to take any pictures as there is no internal memory… =(
@iJaredMS I’ve taken some good sports photos with this camera. I’ve changed computers so I don’t have any. I do have some picture of dances, if you like.
