Digital SLR sensors’s Explained

www.FroKnowsPhoto.com There are a few different sensor sizes out there today. You have Full Frame and Cropped Sensors and now Four Thirds which I did not speak about in this video. On the Nikon end you have FX and DX. FX is a full frame sensor based on a 35mm size and DX is a cropped sensor based on a 24mm or APS size. There are advantages and perceived disadvantages to both. With Full Frame you get much better Hi-ISO capability but it is much more expensive. DX is a small sensor but makes your longer lenses act like they have more power. You multiply any lens you put on the camera by 1.5X to determine its 35mm equivalent. The downside is you need to purchase special ultra wide lenses to capture really wide angle images on DX. Another disadvantage to DX is you will not want to use those lenses on a Full Frame camera . So it becomes a dilemma on weather not to purchase a lot of DX lenses or not. On the canon side you have three sensor sizes. Full Frame, 1.3x magnification in their sports camera s and APS-C which is 1.6x magnification. On the canon side. Any lens that you place on the APS-C sensor you will multiply by 1.6x to get the 35mm equivalent. As in the Nikon the larger the sensor the better the Hi-ISO capability the camera will be. Unlike Nikon canon utilizes a 1.3x cropped sensor int heir high end sports camera . Sports photographers like having their longer glass have more reach. The cameras that have Full Frame sensors will be more expensive because they are more

New Digital SLR Canon EOS Rebel XTI 10.1 MP Camera Question….?

Okay I have a question…

I’ve recently purchased a canon EOS Rebel XTI 10.1 MP (body only). This is my first Digital SLR, so I’m no pro by any means, nor am I looking to spend a lot of money on lenses. I will use the camera primarily for, family events, such as baptisms and birthdays, and travel such as zoo’s, disney world, and arizona..

What would be a good lens for me? Is it best to stick with canon lenses? Is 18-55mm a good lens? 28-90mm? 70-200mm? All suggestions from experienced digital photographers are welcomed.

Thanks.

Digital SLR – Canon or Nikon?

I am about to purchase a digital SLR. I’m leaning towards the canon Rebel XSi… but I want to know if anyone out there knows if a Nikon DSLR in the same price range would be a better choice? And why?

P.S. I don’t own any Nikon or canon lenses, so that is not a factor in my decision.

Digital SLR Canon & Nikon help please…?

I am not a photographer. I have a Kodak digital with 12x optical zoom and take some ok pics.
I am thinking of upgrading to a digital SLR. I have my eye on a canon 50D. Could you please let me know what you think of that camera ? Also how would it compare to a Nikon D90?
Finally, the canon EOS Rebel is WAY less than the 50D. Is it way lower in quality?
Thanks for any help or suggestions you may offer.

Upgrading from Canon Rebel 2000 to Digital SLR?

Hi,
I am looking for upgrading from a canon Digital Rebel 2000 to a Digital SLR. It has the following lenses:
a) 18-35 Cannon Lens
b) 70-300 Tamaron Lens

I am considering buying either a canon 300D/350D/400D or Nikon 40x.

I have the following question:
1. Can I use the lenses mentioned above with the canon’s Digital SLRs?

If yes, then I could probably avoid Nikon.

I am not a avid photographer, but just have the film based camera in the family which I am trying to upgrade.

Thanks.
