www.learningdslrvideo.com Dennis O’Clair from MarkerTek.com was nice enough to send me a cable to review to defeat or disable the AGC on the canon DSLR like the 7D and T2i/550D. It appears to be well made and works just fine as you can see in the video. I think it is a little pricey at .95, but it is a very special cable that they mostly like will not make a ton of them. I made mine for a lot cheaper, but if you do not know how to solder this can be a big help. You can purchase it here if you like. (I do not make any money off this cable).

So let me start off by eliminating two things you can take off the list. Those are aperture and ISO. Aperture, I really can’t tell you what to set it on because it depends on the type of look you are going after.With a shallow depth of field or not. And the other one is ISO. ISO is kind of there for exposure how how you are going to set the exposure. I will say you do not want go too far north of let’s say 1600 especially on like the canon T2i then it gets really noisy. Obviously you are going to need to use aperture along with the ISO to get the right exposure but at least it gets you in the ball park. Those two ingredients are taken off the list. So the first I can tell you about what is on the list is shutter speed. Basically if you are going for a “filmic” look you are pretty much going to double your frame rate, so if you are shooting 24 frames per second you are going to want a 1/50th of a second shutter speed and if you are shooting at 60 frames per second you are going to go with 125th frames per second shutter speed. Now I will tell you it’s just kind of a guideline and a rule but I have shot at much higher shutter speeds and it has worked wonderful, especially if you are shooting something like myself which is just …

I am not a photographer. I have a Kodak digital with 12x optical zoom and take some ok pics.
I am thinking of upgrading to a digital SLR. I have my eye on a canon 50D. Could you please let me know what you think of that camera ? Also how would it compare to a Nikon D90?
Finally, the canon EOS Rebel is WAY less than the 50D. Is it way lower in quality?
Thanks for any help or suggestions you may offer.

I am a student photographer, and I used a standard canon digital camera , but I wan’t something with more optical zoom that can be digital. I already have a canon film slr that my mom used to have, and frankly it is quite old and a hassle to carry around. I decided it might be best if I went ahead and invested in an slr, but i know those are extremely pricey! So, do you know where the best deals are for slr camera s, both on and offline?
