Robert asks…
Which one of these Digital SLR cameras should I buy?
Nikon d90
Canon 40d
Canon 50d
Want good low light ability. Low noise. Best range of lenses to choose from. Just looking for opinions, I have read many online review sites and tried out the different cameras. They all seem to average out to me with the good and bad points.
rob answers:
You gotta figure out what features are the most important to you. Canon cameras have great bodies and features but Nikon has better glass! And optics, me I personally prefer Canon as all of their EF mount lenses will work on any canon cameras with EF

Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi?
Whats your review on the Canon EOS Digital Rebel? Whats the best D- SLR Camera out there? in the 500-1000 dollar range?

rob answers:
I have an XTi and I love it. I started out with the original Digital Rebel, and upgraded last year to the XTi. Right now in the 500-1000 range you have a couple of choices. The XTi can be bought for a decent price since it is an “older” generation. There is the new XSi which is a 12MP camera. There is also the new Rebel XS, which is very similar to the XTi, but I feel is a little bit of a step down as far as features go. One other alternative is that you could look around for a 30D, which again is an “older” camera. It is an 8.2MP with a DIGIC II processor.

Any advice on purchasing a Digital SLR?
I’ve been looking into purchasing a DSLR camera for the past couple of years. I really enjoy photography and want to take this hobby to the next level. I have been researching which DSLRs are best for my “main photographic needs,” which would be action shots and landscapes/travel. Although I have been reading up on this topic for quite some time, scanning reviews and online retailers, I’d also appreciate some personal recommendations.
I’ve got a Canon PowerShot DS1000 that I have been beyond satisfied with, and I’d really like to stay in the Canon family. So far, my eye has been on the Canon EOS Digital Rebel T1i 15.1-Megapixel camera.
Does anyone have any recommendations for me? Spending over $1,000 isn’t something I’m really looking to do – over time, with lens purchases, sure, but not immediately. If you have any advice on really any brand of DSLR that you’ve had good experiences with, I’d really appreciate it!
rob answers:
I would go with one of the higher end Canon Rebel DSLR cameras, either the Canon Rebel T1i (500D) or the Canon Rebel T2i (550D). My main reason is that they have greater high ISO ability over the other 2 Rebel models.
Below are some website links, the 1st link is to a side by side page that lists the features and specs of the 2 cameras and has links to camera reviews that includes sample images from the cameras.
The other 3 links are to seller websites but also provide customer reviews of equipment which can be very informative.
Hope this helps.

Lisa asks…
Whats the Best Digital SLR for me?
For the past year or two i have used my parents camera, a CANON EOS Digital Rebel XTi, and ive loved the results until a few months ago, i focus on animals and plants, so i go to horse shows, and the last one was indoors, and i kept getting either dark pictures with no blur, or grain-y pictures with major blur. Only a select few turned out decent. All were trashed. I checked the aperture n everything, i used every setting, i got varied results, but none worked. Im probably an intermediate, and im just starting to really get into ISO and Aperture and such, but i know what im doing. Im looking for something that is durable, takes good action shots, and has some point-n-shoot. Maybe video. Im just looking for the camera n come with lens, and maybe in future years ill buy a macro n such. Any ideas? My max. spending amount would be $850, if that. Any suggestions, reviews, or sites that can supply me with such? thanks
rob answers:
If your looking for video you should go with the canon 500d. The canon 500d will be a couple of steps up from the xti, have video, and of course all the lenses are compatible. You can buy the body, and use your parents lenses to save you money, you can buy the body and an additional lens your parents don’t own and share, or buy the canon 500d with the kit lens your parents probably already have. Either Im sure you’ll enjoy your new camera.

http://www.bobatkins.com/photography/ reviews /tamron_28-300_vc.html
Which do you think would be better i’m looking for inputs on people that have owned one of these lenses.
ok i’m looking to do pictures of long telephoto such as a hockey arena. but then again i’d need to get close up shots and i dont know if i should just spend the extra 70$ for close up shots.
I’m sorry the tamron is Tamron AF28-300mm F/3.5-6.3 XR Di VC LD Aspherical (IF) Macro
I forgot the 3.5 part
VC on the tamron stands for Vibration Compensation which is Basically IS with under a seperate brand
The 70 – 300 IS lens is 499$
and the 28-300 VC lens is 599$

rob answers:
Well I know that I love my Tamron 18-250 so I’d pick another, yes I do have a few Canon lenses but they are fixed focal length.
