Canon Rebel video – help shooting video?
I have the Rebel T2i and can’t figure something out.
When I shoot a video , even a 2 minute video in 720p, the file size is way too large. A 6 minute video I shot was almost 2 gigs.
How can I shoot in 720p, or 1080p and have the file sizes ‘normal’ size?
Thanks so anyone who can help me!

rob answers:
One thing you need to understand. HD video generates a huge data stream – that’s how the quality is so high. If you reduce the size of the file or the stream the quality becomes very much like the old standard of 640. You can not have high quality with out the large data stream and file size.
No one ever said that switching to HD video was easy – because it’s not. Files are huge, the data stream is huge and to top that off your video card, like mine was, may be too slow to play such files and they’ll appear jumpy, perhaps cut, they may just stop at times.
That’s the bottom line, high quality, large size.

should i ge the canon rebel t2i or t3i?
im 13, almost 14 and just about to start photography. im not gonna do a lot of video, but would still like that feature of taking videos. should i get the canon rebel t2i or t3i? i dont care that much for the pop out screen on the t3i but im just wondering
rob answers:
Go for the t2i. Both are start up level cams and the pop up screen really isn’t that much of use. Between the 2, for a beginning in photography, the t2i is a better choice cos there is really not much variation in them. The t2i has full HD recording too since you’re planning on videos. Down the line you can invest in a better body.

Which one do you recommend: Canon Rebel T2i(550d) or Olympus e-620?
Which one should I buy? It’s going to be my first dslr. I know canon also records video , but I don’t really care for that. As a beginner I like the art filters of Olympus. I don’t know if Canon T2i has something like that… Does it? Anyway, taking everything except video recording into consideration which of these cameras would you recommend?

rob answers:
Since you don’t care about video, I think you should get the E-620, it has illuminated buttons, two card slots, and an articulating screen, which makes it a great tool for photographers. Only problem is, if you want to upgrade to full frame, you’ll have to switch between brands, cause Olympus does not have a full frame camera.

Betty asks…
what kind of tripod should i get for my canon rebel t2i?
I want a good tripod for 100$ or less. it should be able to pan smoothly as i will be using the camera mostly for video. Also, it has to be lightweight enough to carry around for a day. thanks!
rob answers:
A simple rule is, your tripod should be able to support twice the weight of your camera and what ever accessories you mount on the camera. Remember that the tripod is supporting your $1000.00 camera and if it can’t handle the job and your camera falls over not only will you most likely have to repair or replace the camera, you will probably buy a better tripod.
