Lizzie asks…

How to use the 7 point AF on a Canon Rebel XT?

i just got one to borrow all summer for yearbook. the guy in charge showed us how to pick one of the points you want to focus on, but i completely forgot and dont have the manual.
i know you use the wheel behind the shutter button, but you need to do something first, and thats what i forget.
thanks ahead of time for any help.

rob answers:

The manual is actually on line http://www.canoneos.com

You have to choose the mode, first, but it’s better explained in manual.

Mark asks…

What is the difference between a Nikon D300 and a Canon Rebel XT?

Thanks.

rob answers:

Nikon D300 is newer model and in a different class from Canon Rebel XT.

D300 is 12 MP camera, XT is 8 MP camera.

As can be expected, the Nikon gives you a lot more capabilities, such as faster and longer continuous shooting, greater ISO range, higher maximum shutter speed. The D300 also has a much larger LCD screen than the XT. There is no comparison between the two cameras. It’s all about how much you want to spend, and what capabilities you need. For casual photography, the XT might be all you need, but you’ll probably have to get a used one. For serious photography, then the D300 is more what you are looking for.

Chris asks…

Can someone suggest a camera case for transporting a Canon Rebel XT with a 100-400mm Canon L lens attached?

I have a Rebel XT and there are times I need to transport it (carry it to location) with the 100-400mm attached. It is not always convient or clean enough to attach the lens once on location. I am looking for a camera case that will accomodate this configuration. Something I can lay the camera and lens in, with hood attached, for easy access.

rob answers:

Check out LowePro. I am certain they would have a case that would fill your needs. (And they are the best…)

What are the dangers to a canon rebel xt when shooting on the beach?

Are there any precautions you can take to protect the camera?

I provided some info in response to your earlier question – see there. And visit this link: http://pages.cthome.net/rwinkler/beachphotog.htm

James asks…

I own a Canon Rebel XT and need to take pics of inside houses…which is the best wide angle lens?

I have been asked to try to take inside pics of houses for Real Estate listing but I am still learning digital photography. I currently have two great lens but neither good for inside pics. I need relatively good quality…if they come out nice I will get paid.

rob answers:

If you are going to spend money on a good lens, try this:

It produces this kind of thing…
