Thomas asks…
What lenses do i need for my canon rebel xti camera for photography?
Im buying a canon today! I was wondering like which lenses i should get that I will need for my photography? The camera comes with a lense, but like which lenses are good to have?
rob answers:
That mostly depends on what you shoot. Portraits? Sports? Landscapes? Macro? More details, please.
P.S. Read the link below. It will help you understand camera lenses and probably will help you make your decision on a lens along the way.

It also wouldn’t hurt to pick up a book or read a site about DSLR cameras and/or lenses.

Linda asks…
Whats the difference between the Canon Rebel XT and the Canon Rebel XTi?
Is the XTi really worth the extra hundred dollars?
rob answers:
The Canon Rebel XTi is the world’s most popular digital single-lens reflex camera. The Rebel XTi is compact, lightweight, rugged, inexpensive, responsive, and compatible with dozens of the world’s best lenses.
Both cameras would do well in nature and portraiture. What the biggest deciding factor would be (for me) is what kind of lens I could afford on top of the kit lens it comes with. An image is only going to be as sharp as the lens it was shot with. That being said I would get the XT and spend the extra $200 on a better lens.
Now also think about what would probably be “whats a better lens”. I would suggest a 50mm f/1.8 lens. It doesnt zoom (fixed focal point) so you would have to use your feet to get closer, but the f/1.8 part of it means it takes pics in much lower light, and it can get the background to blur really well in those portrait shots. I have an XTi with a 50mm lens, and if I knew what I know now when I bought the XTi I probably would have bought an XT and got a better lens.
I Also have a Nikon F80
hehe.

Helen asks…
Is Canon Rebel Xti good enough for model shoots?
I want to begin working with models but I’m wondering if my Canon Rebel (with good lens) is decent enough to get some pro looking shots?
rob answers:
It is not the camera but the photographer.
I have a link to a friends glamour website and he uses an old Rebel XT ..
If you like I will forward it to you.
Donna asks…
When working with the Canon Rebel xti how can i make the colors more vivid/contrast in my pictures?
I am a novice aspiring to take great pictures of my children however i am finding after reviewing many other sites and pics that i feel like the contrast of colors or the balance of these colors is not as vivid as it could be. I did read that the rebel has a feature that allows it to shoot in almost any lighting that may inhibit this ability. is this true? Thank you for your time.

rob answers:
If you don’t mind taking the camera out of the fully automatic modes and venturing towards P, Av, Tv, M, or A Dep. Modes you have this thing called Picture Styles. Press the center OK button on the back of your camera and you have access to which one you want to shoot in. You can even download more Picture Styles off of Canon of Japan’s website. Http://www.canon.co.jp/imaging/picturestyle/file/download.html That addresses colors.
The contrast is accessed in the menus. It’s in the picture styles and you can up the contrast there.
If you shoot in RAW format rather than Jpeg you can do all of these adjustments in the computer. You can even take a black and white picture (shot in RAW) and revert it back to color. You can’t do that with a Jpeg.
Another thing that helps is getting a proper white balance. Refer to your manual for instructions on both these things. Http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=139&modelid=14257#DownloadDetailAct
